Toddler Bowling

Today Liam (my 3 year old son) had a birthday party to go to that was at the bowling alley.  It also happened to be dinosaur themed (because what little boy doesn't love dinosaurs?)  Liam had never previously been bowling so this was his first time.  I do have have a bowling game on my phone that he loves to play so the concept was not entirely foreign to him.  As a mom I know that sometimes I suck at knowing when my son is old enough to participate in certain activities (such as bowling).
Liam was very excited to get out there and start bowling.  His favorite parts were rolling the ball and the fan at the ball retrieval.  After awhile I had to convince him to keep bowling instead of standing over the fan to let it blow on him while he stood there in delight.  After only one time he has learned that there are certain bowling balls that are too heavy and that you should only roll the ball in your own lane.  He was very good at taking turns with another child and waiting for his turn.  This is huge knowing how bad he has been at having patience with anything in the past.  He was quite sad that all of the bowling balls that were cool colors were too heavy for him.  He was very happy to wear the shows and even enjoyed checking out the arcade games by the entrance.  Over all I think that he did very excellent for his first time.  I can't wait to work on throwing the ball harder and aiming in the future.  But this was a very fun activity that he was definitely in to.  I can't wait to take him again soon.   I wanted to share some of the fun dino party pics as well as a bonus video at the end of Liam reading "El Materdor" this evening.  Unfortunately I missed the previous stories that he knew a lot better than this one but it's still fun to watch :)

Random Liam Moments: January 2014

I had such a great time sharing Liam's random moments from December that I thought it would be fun to share them monthly!  Here are some of the highlights from the last month.

Liam will only wear his Cars Light Up Shoes and his Airplanes zip-up hoodie for a jacket.  It doesn't matter if it matches or not.  We get into a huge fight if I really want him to wear something else or extensive acts of bribery...  Usually I find it's not worth it and just wash them both constantly instead haha.

Liam and I were playing and he told me to go to timeout. At lunch I ate a carrot off of his plate and he told me to go to timeout again. We are watching Despicable Me 2 right now and we always talk about wanting chip hats... I told Liam I wanted a Chip Hat and he said "No I want one, timeout!" Somehow I think this has backfired on me

Liam just let out a really long fart, and then there was silence before he said bless you. I don't know why it was so funny but I just laughed hysterically for almost 5 full minutes.... In case this is funny to anyone else I wanted to share, otherwise I am probably just sleep deprived hahaha. Usually he says excuse me but I think he wasn't sure what to think hahaha

Liam says to me "I have to go potty" as he is playing in his tent so I told him Let's go potty" and we started walking to the bathroom. He informed me "I peed in my pants" He is not one for accidents so I am frantically touching his pants all over looking for a wet spot saying "did you really, how come?" He says "No, ha I'm funny" and laughs hysterically....... Children...

Liam is playing with his food, he had a cheese curd and ripped it in half and one of them was Liam and one was mommy, they were having conversations and playing hide and seek, and at the end they hugged and said "I love you Liam" and "I love you too" and then they were eaten haha. At least they were loving cheese curds...

Three must be when it starts.... he calls my kisses yucky and now he doesn't want to wake up if I try to wake him up telling me no waking up and that it's time to sleep... 3 going on 13..... And he wakes up wanting chocolate in the morning throwing a tantrum when I won't let him have chocolate for breakfast. I feel like I have a teen girl going through PMS some days haha

So a grand maul tantrum ensued after trying to make Liam some oatmeal and he wanted chocolate cream of wheat, so after he calmed down I made him cream of wheat and myself oatmeal.... guess who just gave me his cream of wheat and is now devouring my oatmeal.... little stinker

Liam was watching videos on Youtube and got onto one of making a polymer clay minion from despicable me, he has now been enthralled in polymer clay pixar character creations for the last 45 minutes. I guess this means that it's time for mom to buy Liam some clay or to start making and baking actual objects with the play doh.

Oh no it has started already at 3, Liam wanted a hug and I kissed his cheek, he just wiped it off and said yuck Where does he learn this? I said No yuck haha

Liam was trying to "cold hands" me while I was making lunch and I made him stop, so then I hear him squealing running around the house so I went to go see what he was doing. He had both hands up the back of his shirt and was saying "cold hands" to himself and squealing haha. I love my child.

This evening Liam and I were watching the second Lilo & Stitch: Stick has a Glitch. Liam has watch all of the Lilo & Stitch movies many times and is very attached to them. He has only seen this one a couple time though and it's been awhile since we last watched it. Towards the end Stitch is running out of power and almost dies, I was watching him and his eyes started to tear up, he was actually feeling emotion towards Stitch and genuinely sad for him and then when their love brings him back to life I was cheering and Liam was happy but his eyes were still wet, if it would have went on for longer I think he genuinely would have cried for Stitch. I found this very interesting because although he knows what goes on in movies now, I haven't seen him get emotionally into something in quite this way. It made me very happy that even though it sucks sometimes I am glad for the decision that I made early on to limit my adult show time to only after Liam was in bed and wasn't watching it. I didn't want him picking up things off of adult themed shows/movies until he was able to better understand what was going on and how to process those things. It is also nice to know that my boy shows compassion towards others even if they are intangible to him.

An Ode to The Life of Paul William Walker IV

I was actually planning on writing about something else tonight, when  he tragic news came across my news feed that a

wonderful man, Mr. Paul William Walker IV had passed away.  With all of the internet death hoaxes I immediately wanted to wish that away and have it turn out to be another scam, but it is with heavy heart that I read confirmation from his publicist see news footage and pictures of the wreckage for confirmation.  I haev grown up as an avid fan and with a girlish crush on Paul Walker since I first saw him in Varsity Blues, I remember watching Pleasant Ville repeatedly for him in color.  Back before any of them (he was also with Reese Witherspoon and Tobey macguire) would come near the fame that they ended up with.

Paul Walker was born on September 12th 1973 in Glendale California.  He was raised int he Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and majored in Marine Biology in college.  His first film was in 1986 as a role in Monsters in the Closet.  But it wasn't until 1998 that his career really took off.

This was the year of Meet the Deedles and Pleasantville first came out, leading to the 1999 hits Varsity Blues, She's All That, Brokedown Palace and The Skulls in 2000.
2001 was the start of his franchise career as Brian O'Conner in The Fast and the Furious.   and also the Horror film Joy Ride (which was actually quite good) that came out this year.  This really cemented his fame in Hollywood.  And it wasn't long before the sequel 2 Fast 2 Furious came out in 2003 adding some more standards to the franchise.
We have countless other movies within this time some good and some bad with Noel, Eight Below, Timeline, Into the Blue, Running Scared, Flags of Our Fathers, Death and Life of Bobby Z, and my personal favorite: The Lazarus Project.
It wasn't until 2009 that he would reprise his role in the fast and furious franchise under the same title as the original dropping "THE" with Fast & Furious.  Takers in 2010
Fast Five in 2011 Vehicle 19, Hours and Fast & Furious 6 in 2013.    With Fast 7 in production, who knows what will become of this.

But enough of his movie career, let's talk about the man.  As a fan that has grown up with him, I feel like I have in someway lost a friend, or a classmate, someone you have known and cared for and been involved in their life for years, even without knowing them.  Now not like a close friends mind you more of an acquaintance but I feel the loss all the same.  He had taken on a much stronger role as a father with his now 15 year old daughter Meadow coming to live with him and being a full time father.  Now this is a fairly recent transition and now I can't imagine the emotional toll this must have on her.  Skeptics will say that she is financially set for life, but with him she would have been the same, he has had immensive success in his career, and nothing can replace a father in yoru life, especially when you have made the move to live with him during your teenage years.

There is so much irony in him dying in a car crash after so many car movies and stunts.  And that he was not even the driver makes it even more sad.  I hope that alcohol was not a factor in this crash because that would be very tragic indeed and something that could have been easily avoidable.

At the time of his death Paul Walker resided in Santa Barbara (I knew I should have visited again sooner) with his dogs.  He was reportedly an avid surfer and had a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  In 2010 he was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of marine biology study inspired by his idol Jacques Cousteau when he was a part of a National Geographic Wildlife Expedition Great White.  (I also had a dream to be a part of National geopgraphic wildlife).

He also had a big role in Charitable organizations and events and had his own humanitrian aid team"Reach Out worldwide"

He reportedly died at 3:30 pm in Santa Clarita/Valencia, California (Outside of LA)  while attending a Reach Out charitable event.  He was a passenger in a red Porsche and the driver lost control of the car and hit a light pole bursting into flames, later exploding and killing both occupants inside.
