Lessons Motherhood has Taught Me

In case you are interested in getting a sneak peak into some of the lessons I have had to learn as a single mother, I wanted to share this with you.  Of course there are millions of tiny little lessons and this just touches upon the very tip of it, I thought it might be nice to hear some of your lessons as well.

Within the first month of me going from full-time military to a civilian contractor in support of the military, I surprisingly discovered that I was pregnant.  From that moment on, I knew that to go through with this meant that I would be doing it completely on my own.  At the time I wasn’t sure how this was going to work with my job and with being in the middle of gearing up for a house move.  I admittedly knew very little about being a mother and the costs entailed and decided that I needed to make some life altering choices to make this work for me.  I decided to go with a much lesser house to have a lower rent payment and I was doing what I could to prove myself at work so that I wasn’t in a position to lose my only source of income now that I was going to have another mouth to feed.  I was actually gearing up to go back to school full time at this time as well and I had to put that on hold.  It took several years for to find any sort of confidence in my “mommy” skills and to find the best routine and security in my job.  I did end up changing companies for a better family benefits package and more job security.  Now that I have established more security and stability, I no longer need to put school off, I am ready to go back.  I have already been setting aside time in advance to ensure that I can succeed in this venture.

Before I get ahead of myself, I guess I better get back around to describing what I have learned from being a mother.  I have learned more than can ever be put into words.  I learned what the true meaning of time management is.  You don’t realize how much free time you are wasting in life when you are younger until you forget what sleep is and pray for an extra 5-10 minutes in the morning to make it to work on time.  I have learned what it truly means to be selfless and sacrifice for another human being.  Previously I had thought that I was being selfless in life, but until I was a mother I never knew how easy it would be to put someone else needs, future and wants before my own.  I learned what true unconditional love is.  I have always had love for animals, but never had the love I felt for a person been unequivocally unconditional.  I experienced the highest levels of stress and I learned the definition of “mommy guilt.”  I have fought so many internal battles as I have grown as a person and entered into the process of learning what it is like to care for another person’s every need; to wish any pain and any hurt could be taken into me so that my son would never feel a second of discomfort.  As my son has entered into toddler stage I have felt stress at the constant pushing of limits to constantly re-evaluate the way that I teach him in the best way possible for him.  The search for the best way is new and different every hour; some days every minute.  I have learned that in times of high stress I can reach anger much too quickly and that to yell can make me feel like the scum of the Earth.  I have learned that I need to be easier on myself, that some days are good, and some are bad.  Other lessons I have learned include learning how to take that deep breath and walk away until I am more level-headed.  I have learned that I am not alone and that as our family of two, we are a team and must move forward together.  Time management has become my best friend and has made me more efficient than I ever knew I could be at the most menial of tasks.  I was always good at multitasking, but I have become a machine now.

Most importantly when it comes to incorporating these lessons into being a prospective student, I now know my limits, I know what I can and can’t handle and I know that pursuing education further is the best plan for me to achieve long-term security for my small family.  The heightened confidence that I have achieved as a mother will be incorporated into bolstering my passion, drive and motivation to successfully accomplish this goal.  I have the ability to do this at this time in my life, as routine has become second nature.  I know that the longer I wait to get started, the more that I would enter into regret for lost time.  As I have learned so many lessons thus far as a single mother, I relish the idea of all of the new lessons I will learn in the future.

3 Year Olds Are Silly

Just like the title says my son is always making me laugh with his humorous view on life and actions.  Just in the last two days he has sung happy birthday to an old picture of me AND he has also swept the sidewalk and rode a broom.  Luckily I was able to catch both of these things on video and now I would like to share this small glimpse into the awesomeness that is my life as a mother.  Enjoy!

Liam has a mouth full of bubble tea tapiocas while he sings
Every time he watches this video, he laughs hysterically and will do this for 20+ times in a row

Liam has been a frequent sidewalk sweeper his whole life up to this point
Today he was sweeping because there were some bugs on the porch that he thought would bite
*The bugs were dead rolly-poli bugs

Random Liam Moments from the Past Month

Liam has had some great random moments recently and just thought that I would share some of them with you to make you chuckle like I did, and perhaps you can make some comments on them as well :)  Comments are always welcome :)  Welcome to motherhood of a now 3 year old boy.

*When Liam woke up from his nap earlier today he had gotten out his photo album from his 2 year old class and had it beside the bed since he must have been looking at it to fall asleep, I thought that this was cute and put it away, when I went to lay him down for bed tonight he lifted up his pillow and had taken two picture of just himself out and had put them under his pillow.... I have no idea what to think about this haha. At least he was happy in both pictures, maybe he wanted to be happy in his dreams, any ideas? (Perhaps he got it from Lilo & Stitch)

*Liam is currently eating his mandarin oranges by picking up an orange with his fingers placing it on the top of the fork, bringing the fork to his mouth and then picking up the orange with his fingers and putting it into his mouth..... there's got to be a better way haha

*
Liam just told me he was hungry for a burger and I told him we needed to eat healthier now that the holidays were over. He said "ok I want a cupcake" haha. Lesser of two evils I guess haha

Liam has learned to say "excuse me" after he burps, and today he started telling me that it came from his tummy haha.

Liam has to hug and kiss both the dog and cat multiple times before bed and also say goodnight to the moon and stars.

Liam has decided that he likes tea in addition to cocoa now :)

We ordered the stuff this evening and Liam and I will soon begin making out own bubble tea at home yay.  Honeydew is our first flavor.

Liam prefers his cheap construction trucks to his trains :(  Stupid expensive Thomas haha

Liam has started learning words to songs he hears repeatedly and sings along zealously, especially songs from movies, and he makes up the parts he doesn't know, just like the rest of us haha

Despicable Me 2 has been the reigning champion of the house along with Bolt, Wall-E and Airplanes....  he hasn't even wanted to watch anything on Netflix lately it's crazy...  George still takes over every night before bedtime though.

When grandma was here visiting she rocked Liam to sleep one night and now every night after being put into bed, Liam will come out into the living room with a blanket and want to rock for a few minutes and then he is good and will go climb back into bed and go to sleep.  I don't mind it at all because I was sad when he stopped wanting to be rocked and it lets me hold him close and snuggle him a little bit more :)

Liam refuses to wear any shoes except for his Cars shoes that light up.  The only way that I can get him to wear another pair of shoes is if he is still asleep when I go to get him dressed for school and I can sneak some on him and get him out to the car before he knows what's going on.

Liam seems to only crave pizza, burgers and chocolate right now.  He will still eat other things, but that is all he asks for and the occasional cupcake ;)

Thankful

I have spent a lot of time this year, and especially today thinking about all of the things in my life that I am thankful for.  I wanted to share some of those precious things with you and let you know all that I am in gratitude for that have made an big impact on my 2013.
First and foremost Liam, my son, my #1 man, my rock, my heart, my world.  I never knew what love was until he came into my life.  I never knew for sure what my purpose was until I became his mother.  To love something completely before you even get to see it is amazing.  Watching him grow up into such a character with so much personality, and energy  but also compassion for others.  I am so proud to be Liam's mommy, and very blessed to have him brought into my life.
Then we come to my mother.  I am so happy that you were a young mother, that you were such an unselfish mother the whole time I was growing up even to your own detriment at times.  That you taught me kindness and love and showed me how to be a good mother.  That you have been able to be the type of mother that I consider to be my best friend, that we have been blessed to be such a big part of one anothers' lives.  I regret that we do not live closer, because I hate not being able to see you all of the time.  I am so happy that I get to see you next week, because we are too close to not see one another, and I want Liam to know his grandmother.
I am so very thankful for my daddy.  You can be a hard man to live with, but I would not choose any single other person in this world to call my father.  You have been in my life from the beginning.  You are an amazing and honorable man to love me as your own and to continue to love me regardless of divorce from mom.  You have always been my hero in life, from fireman, to green beret to grandfather.  You have made the 20+ hour trek to Texas at least once a year to spend time with us and it does not go unnoticed.  I have always had you to look up to, and many of my major decisions in life I have made based off of your intelligence and your example.  I remember you being worried that I wouldn't love you anymore when you and mom got divorced and I could not fathom how you could even ask me that question.  You are the only father my heart ever has and ever will love.  I always loved you and appreciated all that you have done for me, but it wasn't until becoming a single mother and dating and seeing the way men would interact with Liam or tell me their stance on "someone else's child" that I truly found appreciation in the selfless love that you and all of that side of the family has always shown me.  I have NEVER felt like I didn't belong with you all and I am so thankful for the closeness and love that I have known because I have had you in my life.  I will not EVER get married unless I can find someone who can love Liam and I the way that  you loved us.
Of course my dear sister.  The only person that can drive my emotions onto a roller-coaster in mere seconds.  The friend I always wanted to be closer to, the sister I always worried about.  The person who has pushed every single limit and boundary I have and then tested them again.  I am thankful that we find a way to live close to one another even if we are far from home.  I am thankful for you being there for me and helping me with Liam when I was all alone.  I honestly don't know how I would have survived those first few months without you.  You have taught me so many lessons about life and I only ever hope to see you happy.  I know I am overprotective at times and worry too much and get constantly told to quit acting like your mother, but you are my dear sister and I would not be who I am in life without you to push me past my comfort zone.  You are my polar opposite in life, and I would not chose you to be another way.  I am thankful that no matter how mad you can make me, that I still love you.  Sometimes I wish that I could live life as freely as you do, but ultimately I am thankful for the moments when we can laugh and protect one another and I miss spending time together, the fleeting moments in recent times makes me miss my sister even when we live in the same city.
My dog Kiri, I named you aptly for in many a dark time, you have been the sunlight that has shown through.  Before Liam, you helped me through very dark times in life.  You gave me purpose and reason.  Your ability to accommodate and become the 2nd best in life, is amazing.  I am thankful for your loyalty and your intelligence and that you are more bear than dog.  You make me smile and give me love all the time, unconditionally, and I am happy to be able to come home and always be loved no matter what has happened in life.
My grandma Shirley, YOU ARE MY SALVATION.  Truly I cannot say anything deeper than that.  You have rescued me when I was drowning.  When I was at my lowest low, you were my anchor to help me come back to the surface.  You are the most selfless person I have and probably ever will meet in this life.  I live my life always hoping to repay you for all that you have done for me.  You are my example of what a true saint in life really is.  There truly are no words that can express the gratitude I feel in my heart, and I am so blessed to have you in my life, I love you so much.
My mentor, Bunny.  You have always shown me what a true example of self power can be.  The calm that is felt just in entering your house.  The way that a short talk with you can seem to solve so many unresolved issues is amazing.  You are so talented and gifted and caring.  I have learned so many amazing things from you, and I am sad that I do not get to feel the peace that I find in your presence more often.  I miss your energy in person and wish that I was closer to do more things like bring you flowers and drink tea and soak in the sunlight and bask in your wisdom.  You are such an amazing being.
My cousins Savannah & Marie, I am so thankful that we are so close in age and got to grow up knowing one another.  I have recently been very sad that Liam does not have that, and does not know people in the family and be close like we were.  We have experienced things in life that no one ever will.  I don't think I have ever laughed as hard as I have in the presence of you both.  You have both taught me what being the short non-artistic cousin is like and how I can excel in other ways ;)  I will never know another driver quite like Marie, and never will I know another laugh as full of happiness as yours either.  With Savannah I will never be able to share a quirky humor that could be understand outside of us, or the love of dogs, and I am so thankful that we live within driving distance.  You have helped me escape and have been a wonderful :auntie: to Liam :)
I am so thankful for each and every family member in one way or another, I could write an entire book.  But I will be here all night.... to be continued...
My job, I am so thankful to have been lucky enough to stay within the same line of work for over 11 years now.  I have somehow escaped my degree thus far, but I do hope to return to school in 2014.  Even when I have a hard time going, it gives me the security that helps me to be the best mother that I can to Liam.  I am also very thankful for an amazing boss who has stood by me and fought for me when he didn't have to.  Who has helped me more than he will ever know and is a truly good person.  I am thankful for the timing of this job when I needed quickly out of a desperate situation and that I had a quick and easy transition to the other side of my office :)
I am thankful for the military for giving me skills and experiences that I would not have otherwise ever encountered in any other way.  And for life-changing people who have taught me many lessons in life good and bad.  I would not be me without those people.
I am thankful for my friends far and wide and never fully realized just HOW amazing and special my friends in life have been and how blessed I was until I moved here.  I wish I lived closer to at least one of you, because life is lonely without my amazing bonds.
I am thankful for the internet and social media to allow me to easily continue friendships from afar and to make new ones.
I am thankful for a car that gets me to work and where I need to go, and for the ability to have a roof over my head.
I am thankful for music, that my music tastes are so wide and that I can listen to a vast amount of different things and not be so limited by a narrow mind.
I am thankful for books, that help me escape and teach me so many things, and give me things to look forward to.
My sense of humor and the ability to find humor in SO many different things, and those few friend that I can share the worst of jokes with and know that you will laugh with me.
Netflix, which has been a savior in many ways.
Movies: My love and obsession.
But most of all, I am thankful for the little things in life, I could be here all night.  But let me close with saying that I am thankful for opportunities that can somehow appear to be horrible disasters that are life changing and eye opening and really ways of saving yourself in a way that you would have never encountered before.  But really I am just THANKFUL to be alive and to have this opportunity at life.

Firetrucks Up Close & Personal

Liam has always had a huge love for firetrucks since he was young.  Today I took him on base to play with some retired trucks and a helo that are on display.  He was having the time of his life :)  It was a wonderful time with a wonderful boy!  I am so lucky to be his mother and get to share things like firetrucks with him.

Bubble Eating

Yes my son apparently likes to gobble up bubbles now haha.  He got to have a visit from his good friend Chloe, and together bubbles are always a great time.  My house seems to be known as "the bubble house" to Chloe.  :) I love this child so much!  he also started piano lessons today!  Here is the awesome video and a picture of him at the piano!  Hope everyone had an amazing day!

Halloween 2013

For as long as I can remember Halloween has been one of my favorite holidays of the year.  I have always loved the excuse to dress up into something you would not otherwise wear.  When I got older I would love when I could go out to a theme party, because it was like being able to have Halloween more than once a year as you could dress up in Decade or in some sort of superhero etc.  Throughout the years I have dressed up as many things from a care bear to a dalmatian to princess Jasmine, A devil woman, a saloon girl, Robin, a pirate, a sailor, Princess Leia, Harley Quinn, etc.
Since my son Liam was born I always wanted to dress up with him.  From the time I was pregnant with him I knew what his first costume would be.  I was flipping through costume catalogs and I found the most adorable baby Yoda costume (hence the Princess Leia).  I find it so much fun to dress up together.  I will have to sift through some photos and do a future Halloween through my life blog :)
In keeping with the tradition I have started of Liam and I dressing up together and his love of Toy Story, we have decided that he will dress up as Buzz and I will be Jessie.  It was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be to find a good Jessie costume, but after several days of searching I finally found the perfect one in my size!  I am so excited for us to dress up together this year!  Check out the costumes and after Halloween I will post how he pull them off!  Share your costume pictures and stories of Halloween :)

Pool Fun with Liam

To know Liam is to know that he loves to play outside, especially when water is involved.  Here are some hilarious photos and videos from a day of great fun that I wanted to share.  Every little boy needs to know how to have fun with water...  as well as how to sound like an emergency siren :)  Enjoy!

Liam and Balloons

Liam LOVES balloons!  I think he first discovered this before he was even a year old.  I actually would buy him more balloons, but I don't want him to get hurt by popping them and he always gets so depressed when they last less than a minute before they are popped.
As he is getting older the balloons will last slightly longer.  The other day when we made a trip tot he dollar star for some more stickers for potty rewards.  I came across a mega bag of balloons and bought them.  They have been work 20 times or more than the dollar I paid for them.  We (meaning mommy) blew a bunch of balloons up and had them spread all over the living room floor.  Liam carries balloons all over with him.  He even brought a couple into the bathroom sink and was washing them.  It is always great to have the simple things that overjoy your child the most.  Children teach us early on that it TRULY IS the little things that count!

I wanted to share some of the hilarious photos and videos of him playing.  Enjoy!

Mission: Potty Training Status: Accomplished!

As a single mother of one child and alone in most of the things that I do, I find that everything is a HUMONGOUS learning experience for me.  I always feel like I am doing EVERYTHING the hard way.  I feel like no matter what I do, Liam (my son) likes to drive me to the edge with the big things.

For example when it came to sleeping through the night.  My son did NOT sleep through the night for 15 months.  I tried EVERY method that I could find in EVERY baby book that I could get my hands on using every tip I could find late and night to the glow of my laptop with Liam in my arms eyes wide open.  Towards the end I was literally falling asleep at the wheel driving to work.  I would be in the middle of working on something very intently typing and writing and creating and next thing I know I am nodding off.  Some of the guys at work thought that it was so hilarious that they would start to take bets on how long it would take for me to nod off.  It was getting bad, and I was starting to lose my mind.  My only saving grace was that Liam was luckily an extremely happy fairly silent baby.  He just liked to be awake and be held and not miss anything and would smile and gurgle up at me and it would help me keep my sanity.  I would talk with the lady at his home daycare and we decided that he must not need sleep to function and that he might be an alien because he wasn't even sleeping a lot during the day at daycare to explain the lack of sleep at home.
Towards the end around the 15 month mark, I had finally reached complete mental and physical and emotional exhaustion.  I don't even know how I was functioning anymore at all.  I remember just crying by myself all the time or starting to get so frustrated about the whole thing.  I called my mom (who lived 8+ hours away from me at the time).  I told her that I just really didn't think that I could take it anymore, and that I was not meant to be a mother, I wasn't sure how I was going to make it through this, and if I didn't sleep I wasn't sure how anything was going to happen.  She offered to meet me half way that week end and have Liam stay with her for about a week.  Even at that time I was saying " No way a week is way too long, just a day or two so that I can do nothing but sleep and I will be good."
So I think it was on that Wednesday or Thursday, Liam must have known, because he FINALLY slept through the night, and was a great sleeper.  People used to marvel and how easily he would go to bed and stay to bed for me, and I would just tell them that it was my reward for the 15 months of Hell that he put me through haha.  That is until Liam got the sides of the the crib and into his toddler bed...  he still doesn't sleep through the night because he has to get up and potty or get a hug or look at the stars or sing a song or have a kiss or get a drink......  Still working on that one.

Reading was one of many methods that we tried
Please forgive me for getting side-tracked there.  Back to the celebration at hand:  The potty training mission completion.   I started potty training Liam a few months back.  Once again, knowing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about how to potty train a child let alone a boy I was freaking out inside and consulting every parent and book I could get my hands on.  I remember one of the first thoughts I had when I found out I was having a boy, was how in the world does a single mother potty train a boy with no male for him to see to stand up and pee?  Liam wasn't even born yet and I was asking anyone I knew with a son about methods that had worked for them....  let me just say that there was absolutely NO (yes NONE) one method that worked for Liam.  He always loved stickers, so naturally we started out with the sticker chart.  However, I had made different column for peeing, pooping or just sitting on the toilet to get him to feel happy about it.  (I did buy a really super awesome potty seat that he picked out that played songs and made noises, and NOT ONCE did he EVER go potty in it.  I did and still do however get a lot of use from the top of it that fits onto the toilet.)
Back to the sticker chart...  Liam likes things a certain way and it would turn into a fight over why he couldn't put a sticker in a separate column and so eventually I lost that battle and there were stickers all over the paper.  Needless to say he got bored with that idea, and going potty was no longer fun, he didn't want to go in there if you said the word "potty" he would run out kicking and screaming and saying "No."  So I tried food (using mostly leftover halloween candy, and then toys and then movies and back to stickers, etc.)  I tried to stick with methods used at school and had many "naked weekends" to help Liam to recognize when he had to go.  However he didn't really seem to care when and where he went.  so then I went to the underwear and he wouldn't care if he peed on himself.  I felt like he was NEVER going to be potty trained.  Although the last few weeks of straight underwear saved me on diapers, I am sure I spent about the same on water and laundry soap to clean up all of his messes.  I was last weekend once again reaching my breaking point.  We had been trying and trying and I was getting super frustrated.  Especially when I saw that Liam had move up to the officially potty trained list in his class and I would hear raves about how wonderful he did at school and how he would go on his own without any prompting.  I was starting to get a little bit angry at this point.  Angry at myself wondering what I was doing wrong and why did I suck so horribly at this, at Liam for KNOWING that he needed to go and refusing to do so, at potty training in general because it seemed to make my life Hell.
I re-engaged online avenues for methods, I would grill my friends on facebook if they even mentioned anything about potty training, and everyone was so chipper and bragged about how easy it was and about these 2 day methods and 3 day methods, and "just put them in underwear" or "let them run around naked" and it will just click for them in the "potty training weekend."  I read and re-read "Potty Training for Dummies."  (That book really talks down to you, such as FAILURE is because of YOU as the Parent)  That book was really making me feel bad, I personally wouldn't recommend it based on it's tone.  It had good information but as a first time parent, I need uplifting advice and encouragement.  I even almost paid $40 for this online program guaranteed to work in 2 days...  although once I read the steps she wanted to start from scratch and NEVER use Pull ups and have all these specific rules such as NOT having tried to potty train yet that I didn't fall into.
So last Thursday Liam had an especially HORRIBLE day of potty training at home.  It seemed like he was full of accidents and I would clean one up and he would be going potty somewhere else in his pants.  I knew he knew when he had to go because he would try to hide in another room.  And then he got poop ALL OVER my living room floor and was walking and it was EVERYWHERE.  I had had a REALLY Long week and was sick and needless to say.  I just lost it.  There was some screaming and some yelling and some crying and some thinking for the umpteenth time that I really had a puppy and not a son and that I wished I could put him outside and he would go on the grass....
Needless to say Liam and I hugged I apologized for yelling (I must say that really I just screamed in frustration and yelled You know you need to go why can't you go IN THE POTTY) and so we consoled one another and I felt like a horrible mother and I called my mom again and was ready to give up and told her how I wasn't meant to potty train a child and that I just couldn't do it, it wasn't possible.  I needed to find someone else to potty train my child because it just wasn't going to happen.
Of course my mother told me about how at some point we all reach a frustration level and he was still young and he would be potty trained before he was in Kindergarten.  I went to Liam's school and again asked his teacher for advice and she told me to do things I already was, and she gave me  a sheet of stickers she uses at school.  On Friday Liam went pee ALL by himself at home and it was momentous and then he had an accident and then the weekend was accident filled again.  Monday was like a light switch Liam was in going potty by himself but still having some trouble with making it to poop.  I started to think that maybe Liam was trained to be potty trained during the week but just not when he was home with me especially on the weekends.  He got better and better all week and had NO accidents at all with Pee, and finally got poop down as well.  It was glorious and wonderful.  And I think nothing really worked that great but he does get a cookie we baked and iced together that stay in a container on the window sill and a sticker if he does a good job.  So far that seems a fitting reward for him.  I have absolutely NO advice for anyone else, except that by the time you are about to pull your hair out and give up they will sense that it is time to stop Fing with you and get down to business.  Or maybe it will be a complete piece of cake.  Every child is different and try what you are comfortable with until you find something that works for you and your child/children.   I wish anyone else the best of luck no matter what kid they are on.  If anyone needs a hug, to vent or to cry it out a bit, I am here to listen and share with you :)  One day it will FINALLY happen and we can celebrate together!
At least he LOVES cleaning the toilet, still working on training him to splash less though haha

Flashcards with Liam :)

Just wanted to share the awesomeness that is Liam.  In these videos you can hear his cute little voice going through flashcards and making various animal noises.  Man am I lucky to be his mom :)  I hope to always continue to teach him new and positive things.  He absolutely loves to sing his own version of the ABCs and thrills at learning new words and colors and sounds!  I just love his little mannerisms and how he needs things to be a certain way, just like mommy.  :)  Share in the joy that is my little man :)

Opposites according to Liam

A glass being full or empty according to Liam.
Let me start by showing a picture of part of one of Liam's (my 2 and a half year old son for those of you who don't know) books that prompted this blog thought:

As you can see on this page it is showing opposite of a glass full and empty and a girl being happy and sad.  I have always laughed at Liam when he reads this page because to him the glass is "drink" and "need more drink."  As he is learning more about emotions he is able to point them out in people around us.  So as he used to say that this girl was crying, this evening he said "happy" and "sad need more drink."
Now you could go in many different directions with this.  Initially I thought about a glass being "half empty" or "half full" and how a child doesn't even see it that way at all.  My son views this glass as either having something that he wants in it, or needing to have something that he wants in it refilled.  Or "more drink."  If only the rest of us thought this way as this doesn't really have to be a glass "half empty" but just an opportunity to add more "drink" to it.
You could also take this as my son is a future alcoholic haha.  He either has drink or needs more drink and you are sad when you need more drink haha.  I didn't really think about it that way until I was writing this blog and it popped into my head haha.
Ultimately if we are only viewing something by what it needs (ie the solution) and the way that we can feel if we get it, than we are able to more easily overcome obstacles instead of just seeing emptiness.  Defining that emptiness and the "drink" that it needs more of can simplify our problems and make life run a lot more smoothly.   I don't know maybe I am just reaching here, but it makes sense in my head haha.  I would love to hear your take on it.

Welcome

Good evening new readers,

My son Liam & I :)

I would like to take this time to welcome you to my blog.  This is my initial attempt at blogging and hoping for the best.  I needed an avenue to get back into writing on a regular basis and would love to see this inspire me to accomplish great things as an author.   Let me share with you a smidgen of myself.   I am a single mother of an amazing 2 and a half year old son and 5 year old Keeshond puppy.  I am an aspiring poet, and novelist.  I love to cooking, reading, writing, listening to music, making my son smile and inspiring him to learn new things.  I love sharing life with those who've an aptitude for finding LIFE in our surroundings.  I look forward to sharing many works with you all.  Those in progress, completed, or just beginning.  Many pictures videos, and other parts of my amazing life that I am so thankful to have been blessed with.  I have an open heart, and an even more open mind.  Thank you for taking the time to become acquainted with myself and the words and thoughts that flow through me.
