October 2014 Playlist

I know, it's a few months late, but I am playing catch-up, and even though I was unable to post the blog, I still had my notes written for the songs of the month! Enjoy these 31 songs of my 31 days of October.

1. We Can Make the World Stop-The Glitch Mob: The Glitch Mob is always great for a multitude of tasks.  I love jamming out to them while I am cleaning or cooking, or just dancing around the house with Liam.  The beats of Glitch Mob always stand out as unique in a world of copycats.

2. A Thousand Year-The Piano Guys: I never understand why these guys are called the Piano guys when only one of them plays the piano and one plays the cello.  I LOVE Christina Perri and I love this song, and instrumentals and they did a great job on this.

3. Stars Align-Lindsey Stirling: If you have ever seen any of my previous playlists, you will already know of my love for everything Lindsey and her unique videos!

4. Rain-Blackmill: Blackmill is always a calming force in my world.  Great beats also.

5. Live It Up-Jennifer Lopez feat Pitbull: J Lo is always good for some upbeat tunes.  I think that this song is fun.

6.  Crank It Up-David Guetta feat Akon: I love collaborations with David and Akon.  Akon's voice sounds great on Guetta's beats.  Another fun upbeat song.

7. Love-Musiq Soulchild: This song is always a classic R&B ballad.  You can't go wrong with Musiq talking about love.

8. One Love- Trey Songz: Songs like this make me want to fall in love

9. I Can Transform Ya-Chris Brown feat Lil Wayne & Swizz Beatz: I always loved this song, makes me want to dance around the house, and I also think that the video is fun.

10. Heartbreak Hotel-Elvis Presley: Liam really got into this song thanks to the movie Lilo & Stitch.  So we listen to it all of the time now.  Liam always thinks it's hilarious when we sing low to the "I Feel So Lonely, Baby" part.

11. Why-Secondhand Serenade: I have yet to hear a Seconhand Serenade song that I don't love.  This song is very powerful and real.  The lyrics are definitely worth taking a hard listen to.  If you have every been hurt to the point of feeling broken, then these will speak volumes.

12. Prime-Revenge of the Fallen: How can you not love this iconic score from the Transformer's soundtrack.  It always stands out whenever I hear it.

13. Heavy in Your Arms-Florence and the Machine: Florence always has such deep lyrics.  This song speaks volumes, and is great to listen to.

14. #1Nite-Cobra Starship feat My Name is Kay: Cobra Starship always makes music that is fun to listen to :)

15. Dead & Gone-T.I. feat Justin Timberlake: I will always love this song.  Justin and TI in one song?  Yes Please.

16. Blow-Ke$ha: Ke$ha is always great for a fun song and a jacked up video.

17. When a Heart Breaks- Ben Rector: You can just feel the emotion in this song.

18. Live It Up-Colbie Calliat-I just realized that I had too songs with the same name on this playlist haha.  Well they both have the same message that you must enjoy and revel in today!  So get to it!  I love that this one is more self-empowering though :)

19. Take Me Away-Keyshia Cole: Another song that makes me want to have someone to love :)

20. New Flame-Chris Brown feat Usher and Rick Ross: I just really love the beat to this song.  Chris Brown and Usher are always a great combination to me. No matter what Chris Brown does, the boy can sing and dance.  Although I can't help by comment on the white shorts with white leggings/jeggings/meggings look...  like wtf?  But we do get some iconic Usher dance moves in this video.  I could have done without Rick Ross at the end though.  It's kind of like when Lil John was thrown into Lovers & friends haha

21. Best Day of My Life-American Authors: I am a newer fan of the American Authors, but this song definitely sealed me in as a fan for them.  It is a fun song to make you happy about your day :)

22. Killing Me Softly-Fugees: Classic, always a loved song of mine.

23. Shine Your Way-Owl City & Yuna: Liam and I have watched the Croods more times than I can count and I still LOVE this movie.  It was only fitting when we started watching this music video as well.  If you haven't yet seen the Croods, get on it.  You are missing out.

24. Are Your Feeling Me?-Aaliyah:  Aaliyah is never far from my heart!  I loved her so much!  This is one of my favorite songs of hers.  Plus I love Jet Li :)  Romeo Must Die was super cheesy in a way that you still love it haha

25. In Public-Kelis feat Nas: Sometimes you just need a great sexual song on your playlist.  So here you go.

26. Mangalam-Deva Premal: Very calming and trance inducing.  I love her mantras and music.

27. Take Over Control-Afrojack feat Eva Simons: This song is very dancey and makes you want to sing along :0)  Plus I love Eva's voice

28. Higher-Taio Cruz feat Travie McCoy: I love both of these guys.  So upbeat and fun :)

29. My Happy Ending-Avril Lavigne: I have definitely felt this way before.  And I love Avril.

30. All I Wanted-Paramore: This is seriously one of my favorite songs that I have heard in a LONG time.  When  you are longing for someone you know you won't have.

31. Letting the Cables Sleep-Bush: Bush will never get old :)  I love the slower tempo of this one.

Here are some songs that affected me in one way or another during the month of September.  Enjoy my eclectic taste!

1. Requiem for a Dream- Jennifer Thomas: This song came on a lot last month and it stood out to be every time.  I know that this is a remake but I think that she does such a spectacular job.

2. Accidentally in Love-Counting Crows: With the news of the new Counting Crows album, and listening to Disney kids Pandora a lot, I just couldn't leave Counting Crows off.

3. Fearless-Colbie Calliat: You can just feel the heartbreak in this song.  I just love Colbie.

4. Again-Lenny Kravitz:  I have always had a huge crush on Lenny and his re-emergence into my life through the Hunger Games made me so happy to hear this song, which was always great to begin with.

5. Renegade-Styx: How can you not love this song and want to rock out any time that you hear it.  If you fall into that category than I don't know why you are on my page anyway ;)

6. Shatter Me-Lindsey Stirling feat Lizzie Hale: I love everything about this song, the lyrics, the violin, the music video!  Stands out as such a great one!  "Somebody shine a light, I'm frozen by the fear in me. Somebody make me feel alive, And shatter me"

7. Stop Draggin' My Heart Around-Stevie Nicks & Tom Petty: Such a wondrous collaboration!  Just love their voices together.  Great song.

9. Feeling Good-Michael Buble': I am seriously in love with Michael Buble', he makes everything in life better and reminds you that hope exists.  Plus this is a great confidence boosting song that makes you saunter across your living room floor.

10. All I Have-Jennifer Lope feat LL Cool J: I have always loved this song.  Sometimes when enough is enough, you just have to walk away.

11. You Can't Hurry Love-The Supremes: So I went through an old music kick last month, but you can't argue that this isn't an awesome song and still applicable.

12. Waking Dream-Natalie Walker: I just love how haunting this song is.

13. Spectrum-Zedd feat Matthew Koma: This was the first song that I ever heard of Zedd and I was hooked.  I can still remember the first time I saw this video and how weird it is and also how fitting it it's old weird way it is with the song.

14. Maria, Maria-Santana ft Wyclef Jean: Santana is just so talented and awesome!  This song will always be a great one.

15. Shake It Out-Florence and the Machine: The lyrics are always synced up with moments in my life.  I love you FATM!  We all need to spring clean our lives from the past and "shake it out", move on.

16. Give Me Everything-Pitbull feat Ne-Yo & Nayer: This song always makes me feel upbeat and dancey!  Pitbull just has that charisma and swagger in his smile, I love it!  Plus there is also something about a guy that calls your "dahling"

17. Turn Me On-David Guetta feat Nicki Minaj: I so love David Guetta, and this video will always be one of my favorites.  I just love the building of the mannequin that is brought to life and all that it could symbolize.

18. Sarajavo-Blackmill: Blackmill just dominates every song that they put out.  They always stand out to me no matter what I am doing, I instantly stop and look at my Pandora and it's Blackmill being awesome agian.

19. Cups (When I'm Gone)-Anna Kendrick: Liam freaking loves this song, and it is catchy and I like it now too.  We sing it together at loud volume in the car :)

20. Now We Are Free-Lisa Kelly/Gerard: I LOVE this song, and it is from the grand movie Gladiator.  Such a beautiful Celtic melody.

21. Shimmer-Fuel: This was always my favorite Fuel song!  I love everything about it!

22. Beauty is Her Name-Dru Hill: Great R & B by Dru Hill, makes me miss good music.

23. Years of War-Porter Robinson feat Breanne Duran: Such a great song to listen to.

24. I Choose You-Sara Bareilles: Somehow Sara has taken over one of my stations, and I have gotten to hear a lot of her songs that had never crossed my ears before and I am loving it.  This song is a great representation of a lot of her awesome.  Love the lyrics.

25. Happy-Pharell: You just can't listen to this song and NOT be happy.  Liam and I love it as a pick me up, dance around the house kind of song.

26. Sorrow-Flyleaf: Flyleaf is great at exploring a range of emotions!  I just love Lacey's voice and I am sad to hear the she decided to leave the band, but becoming a mom can change your life priorities for sure.

August 2014 Playlist

Songs that defined my month and some insight into my mind and thoughts musically.

1. Never Let Me Go- Florence and The Machine: Two of my favorite things combined, FATM and Vampre Diaries...  and Damon, and Delena, and Damon...  and the beauty of this song.  *Spoiler alert if you have not watched the first 3-4 seasons of Vampire Diaries, this video may ruin some shock moments for you.

2. Good Enough-Sarah McLachlan: Sarah will always remind me of my mom, and I am happy that I can still listen to her after all of the CDs on repeat for months on end haha.  This song is still beautiful, and now that I am older I understand why my mom put some CDs, such as this one on repeat for so long because the lyrics speak to me now in a way that they never did when they were younger.  This song makes me feel like it was definitely speaking to my mother as well, in a way that she may have hid certain thoughts and feelings from us as kids.

3. Fade into You-Mazzy Star: This song reminds me so much of growing up and I still love the haunting melody and lyrics.  It has been featured in a multitude of tv shows and movies.

4. Glory and Gore-Lorde: Lorde has always intrigued me with her uniqueness and that voice of hers.  This song may be most noticeable from the opening of the show Vikings.

5.  Motivation-Kelly Rowland feat Lil' Wayne: I have always loved Kelly, and this song is so hot!  I love that she isn't afraid to be the sexy one from Destiny's Child.

6. Better Days-Goo Goo Dolls: I just love the hope that can be felt from this song.

7. You're Not Sorry-Taylor Swift: Hate on Taylor all you want, but she provides lyrics for any girl who has ever felt heart break and betrayal.  I could dedicate this song too many times, plus it's catchy.

8. Here With Me-Michelle Branch: I don't think that there is a Michelle Branch song that I don't love.  I wish she was still making music.

9. Ms. Jackson-Outkast: Such a classic song, you can't help but to get into it.

10. The Chain-Fleetwood Mac: I always think of my mom and my childhood whenever I hear Fleetwood Mac or Stevie Nicks. I like to cook and clean to this kind of music.  "And if you don't love me now, you will never love me again"

11. Play-Goapele: I love Goapele, and this song is hot and catchy.  Sexy man hunk in the video also ;)

12. Hand in My Pocker-Alanis Morissette: Oh Alanis, you write the soundtrack to my life.  Such a great song about life. "And what it all boils down to, is that nobody's really got it figured out just yet"

13. Single-Ne-Yo and NKOTB (New Kids on the Block): Like most girls around the decade that I was born, there was much glee when NKOTB finally made newer music a few years back (geez it has already been 5 years ago now).  I do love this song, the truth of being able to lose yourself in the arms of someone, if only for a single song.

14. Take Back the Night-Justin Timberlake: As  someone who will probably always feel that FutureSex/LoveSounds will be the greatest album that he will ever put together, I have found myself lacking interest in most of his newer music.  This has been the only son that has stood out to me from his latest singles thus far.

15. All the Way Down-Glen Hansard: This song holds such emotion, I can feel the pain of past experiences when I would find myself broken down to the point that you slowly slide down to the floor in disbelief and shock and cry from your very soul.

16. Can You Stand the Rain-New Edition: You can never claim that New Edition doesn't sing with soul, especially in this song.  I think that all of us are wanting that one person who can "stand the rain" with us in life.

17. Shake Your Tailfeathers-Nelly, P. Diddy, and Murphy Lee: Back with Nelly and Murphy Lee did  everything.  I used to have a small crush on Nelly...  like most girls at that time I think.  This song was fun and catchy and man was the dance stupid haha, and you can bet that I was out there acting a fool and "Shaking my tailfeather" haha.

18. I Like That-Houston feat Chingy, Nate Dogg & I-20: Such a promising start and then Houston had to go all crazy and try to kill himself in the bathroom and detaching his eye or stabbing it with a pen...  I don't remember it was something about his eye...  and now I can picture is the Hostile blow torch to the eye incident...  It was such a great lesson to NOT use drugs.  It's always nice to hear Nate Dogg, and always missing how he could make any song sound better.  This is not to be confused with the song that came out around the same time by Marques Houston called I Like IT which was confusing but sound different.  Now I am also wondering what in the heck happened to Chingy and his Jackpot squad....

19. You and Me-Lifehouse: I will always love this song.

20. Play Hard-David Guetta feat Ne-Yo and Akon: I love David Guetta, he just seems like he rocks as a person.  This video is so hilarious.  Those are some insane boots.  It was nice to see a small emergence by Akon for this video and Ne-Yo has that voice that always sounds great.  Also this video gives a nice sexy shirtless shot of David Guetta that is much appreciated :)

21. Diamonds-Rihanna: Regardless of the way that diamonds reflect light in the lyrical debate that followed this song, it is still a song that I enjoy listening to and I like the message it is meant to impart upon the listener.

22. One More Night-Maroon 5: I LOVE this song.  Although I always feel like watching the video feels weird with what I felt the lyrics were saying.

23. Spectrum-Zedd: This was the first song that I ever heard from Zedd, and I was hooked.  I love the weirdness to the videos.  I always have to crank up this song!

24. Almost Lover-A Fine Frenzy: Oh the almost lovers of the world...  the ones that could have been, but never quite were.  "I never want to see you unhappy, I thought you'd want the same for me.  Goodbye my almost lover, goodbye my hopeless dream.  So long, my luckless romance.  My back is turned on you I should've known you'd bring me heartache Almost lovers always do"

25. 300 Violin Orchestra- Jorge Quintero: I love this song, great beat, great instrumental.

26. Evil Beauty-Black Mill: Black Mill rocks at music, and life most likely.  These songs always stand out amongst the crowd.

27. Keep Breathing-Ingrid Michaelson: Sometimes that is all that we can do from moment to moment.

28. Friend Like Me-Robin Williams from Aladdin: There are so many great moments from Robin Williams that helped shape my childhood and have never left me.  It is with heavy heart that the world says good bye to a brilliant man in a fight within his own mind.

29. Who Are You When I'm Not Looking-Blake Shelton: This is definitely something we all wonder about people we care about, we want those small insights into each and every part of someone who holds our hearts and find the beauty in all of the nuances and oddities in unguarded behavior.

30. Unfortunate-Trey Songz: This is the story of my life...  But once it's over, it's over for me.  "That's unfortunate, that you didn't believe in me"

31. Closing Time-Semisonic: This song will forever remind me of my first official job at the age of 15.  Mark's In & Out, and how we would play this song while closing every night, requesting it on the radio when we could.

1. Once Upon A Dream-Lana Del Rey: As a little girl Sleeping Beauty was always one of my all-time favorite Disney movies and this was one of my favorite songs.  I even used to sing this to Liam all the time when he was little.  I think that Lana did an amazing job of making this song sound haunting and beautiful.  I love it whenever I hear it.

2. Kerosene-Miranda Lambert: I am not a huge country fan, but I feel like there are definitely some songs and artists that stand out to me.  This is definitely one of the greatest break-up songs to me.  "I'm givin' up on love, 'cause love's givin' up on me" has always been my favorite part.

3. Do It 2 Me-Allstar Weekend: I really like this song.  It is catchy and a slowed down song for Allstar weekend.

4. Listen To Your Heart-DHT: I have to say that I have always loved DHT's remakes of Roxette's songs.  I love the original and the remake.  This is one of my favorite remakes that DHT did.  They definitely took this classic and modernized it, without ruining the original.  The lyrics are just great also, although DHT can't take credit for that part.

5. Oxygen-Colbie Caliat: I seriously love Colbie.  Here station never steers me wrong on pandora.  I love the lyrics to this song.

6. Om Purnam-Deva Premal: I just love listening to Deva's songs.  They calm me and I love the tone of the music.

12. Boston-Augustana: I seriously love this song :)

13. Greedy Fly-Bush: Such a spectacular song.  Bush will always be one of my all-time favorites and my crush for Gavin will never go away!  Razorblade Suitcase was one of the albums to have back in the day.  "Do you feel the way you hate, do you hate the way you feel?"

14. Titanium-David Guetta feat Sia: This song is just wonderful.  I love the message, I love the way that the video was done.  Sia is awesome, David is a genius.  Great song all around.

15. If You Could Only See-Tonic: Oh the memories...  this song is still such a good one.  "If you could only see how blue her eyes can be, when she says... when she says she loves me."

16. crushcrushcrush-Paramore: Haley is so great, I love Paramore.  This song always stands out to me.  "Let's be more than... THIS...   I'd rather waste my life pretending, than have to forget you for one whole minute"

17. Say It Ain't So-Weezer: Such a classic Weezer song.  It's such a great song to drive around and sing the chorus at the top of your lungs

18. Beyond The Veil-Lindsay Sterling: I love what Lindsay is doing for the violin and making it stand out as the amazing instrument that it is.  It's great to see her success with how much of a better budget the new videos are, but I love them all.

19. Deuces-Chris Brown: I think we all have someone that we want to say "deuces" to.  I love this song though.  No matter how much trouble Chris Brown gets into, I feel like he really puts it all out there in a lot of his music.  And the boy can sing and dance.

20. All Around Me (Acoustic)-Flyleaf: I love the original of this song, but recently I heard the acoustic and it just made the song even more beautiful and powerful.  Such a great song, and the lyrics.

21. Please-Toni Braxton: This song always stands out to me as well.  Such a great one.  Toni has some great lyrics as well.

22. Spirit Indestructible-Nelly Furtado: Nelly has the lyrics to my soul.  I feel like through her music we are kindred spirits.  I just lover her and the message in her songs.  Her open-minded thinking and her view on things.  This is another one of her many powerful songs "I have a spirit indestructible, a heart that lovin' was made for"

23. Oh Miah-Blackmill: Another powerful song.  This song is so beautiful.

24. Independent Women Part 1-Destiny's Child: Oh much I love Destiny's Child.  This was the only new Charlie's Angels movie that I watched and own haha.  But I love this song. Watching the video is so hilarious, especially Beyonce' she looks so different now.

31. The One-Mary J. Blige feat Drake: Sing it Mary J.  This song always makes me want to get up and dance.  Mary J. is always great for a woman confidence booster song :)

16. Never Let Me Go-Florence & the Machine: FATM is seriously one of the greatest of all times.  Every single song I hear makes me take a pause in life to just stop and listen for a moment and revel in the vibes that are put forth by the lyrics and the vocals and the instrumentals...

17. Someone to Love You-Ruff Endz: Such a wonderful song and great throwback.  Whenever I hear this song I definitely think of myself.

18. Yo Side of the Bed-Trey Songz: I love this song, but the music video really sealed the deal for me with his wife deploying and being without her while she is gone.  I have seen this video dozens of times and it still makes me cry EVERY time that I watch it...  needless to say I try to never watch it around other people.  It is such such a powerful message.

19. Sweet Dreams-Beyonce': This has to be my favorite newer Beyonce' song.  It has such a powerful beat and presence that you can just feel whenever you hear it.
