The Mind of A Toddler: Character Antics

This past month has definitely been one of my son being best described as a "character."  He is always cracking me up with his crazy toddler antics.  Throughout the month I try to keep track of some of the silly happenings so that I can share it all at once.  Enjoy and feel free to share any of your hilarious toddler sayings or happenings.

I had both my hands full carrying stuff and I coughed into my arm.
Liam lectured me saying "cover your mouth mom, cover your mom, ok?"
I just said "ok, thank you Liam"
Haha at least I know he is listening when I say it to him haha

A fly just landed on Liam and he slapped himself to get it off and said "Ow!"
Then he yelled "Fly! No Ma'am!"
My life is awesome

Liam says "mom, I want a sandwich with green."
I said "Ok, is that what you want for dinner?"
He pushes my leg and says "Go mom. Go in the kitchen now"
I feel like I live with a grown man some days....

He then got tickle attacked and had to re-ask nicely

Liam went through all of my Zumba games and told me which one I should do and then put it in the X-Box and said "There you go mom, Liam is a big help." He came and gave me a big hug and I thanked him and he pushed me away and said "Ok mom, time to watch fire truck on the computer." haha I think this was all a ploy.... He knows I work out when he watches fire trucks haha.

Liam pulled a new one on me at bedtime. He told me that he needed the toilet because he was going to be sick. Knowing that he was full of it I said "No you don't"
He said pathetically "Yes mom, I'm going to be sick"
So I humored him and let him go into the bathroom where he fake coughed and spit into the toilet then giggled and ran back to bed.
Where do they come up with this stuff?

Uh oh... Liam is taking after mommy. I just found him sitting in his room by his nightlight reading a book... I can't even count the amount of time I spent by my nightlight playing card games up all night... So it begins...

With all of the thunder storms we had this month, Liam suddenly became "afraid" of thunder, which meant that he would come and lay on the couch with me with a huge grin on his face as he told me the noise was scary.

Whenever I catch Liam doing something hilarious or adorable I take a picture.  Later Liam tried to recreate whatever happened (reading, playing, etc) and then he tells me "get the camera and take a picture mom."

Liam just brought me a cheese slice and told me to slap him in the face with it... So of course I did it.
He giggled and said "ah cold" then grabbed the cheese and ran into the bathroom, and is currently slapping himself in the face with cheese while his giggles ring through the house...
Gotta love rainy days
*By the way he ran into the bathroom so that he could see himself slap his own face with the cheese in the mirror... in case that wasn't clear haha

 More Liam antics from today:
Liam sang Happy Birthday to his pizza.
He told his toys to "quit messin' around."
He hit the cat and then apologized to her

After lunch I told Liam it was time for nap.
He yelled "no mom, I don't want to nap" and ran out of the room.
About 10 seconds later he came back and hugged me and said "Sorry mom, I love you. Time for nap". Then he proceeded to walk back to his room and lay on his bed. Haha. The joys of motherhood.

Toddler boys are silly. For the past 10 minutes or so, Liam wanted nothing more than for me to throw a couch pillow at his face. He would then giggle with glee and say "do it again mom". Boys are weird haha

Naked hockey is a nightly occurrence.  Let me clarify...  Liam dries off after bath gets the hockey sticks and a ball and we play for 15 minutes or so before winding down for bed...  He will only put his jammies on after this...  And he is the only one that is naked....

Liam was throwing a toy up to the fan while I was checking into my group discussion and I caught him and said "Liam" in a stern voice.
He came over to me with a smirk on his face turned my head to the computer screen and said "Do your homework mom"
Needless to say he didn't do it again....
A short time later he got out plastic bead necklaces and was throwing them from the couch saying "Superman"
Life with a toddler is never dull.....

Liam is out of bed hugging me saying "Do your homework mom, I just want to hug you...."
How can you say no to that?

Liam got a fatlip on the playground at school.  As soon as we got home he dropped everything and immediately put a band aid on his lip and was checking it out and wanted me to take a picture haha.

I have a strange child.... He keeps doing downward dog on the floor with his little brown naked butt in the air yelling Excitedly "get me get me". Wanting me to slap his butt..... (which he calls his body by the way haha).

My child now frequently says "Oh my goodness" (very extravagantly and drawn out, usually with a sense of awe or excitement).
"Good Lord Kiri, be quiet". (To the dog when she is freaking out about someone/something walking by).
"Want to share with me?" (Anytime I have something, usually food, that he wants.
"Goodness gracious" (in exasperation)
I guess it's a good thing that I have learned to sensor the majority of swearing around him, since he steals my phrases

I love when Liam tells me "Mom, my foot is tired..."
This means his foot has gone to sleep haha. I am going to start using this from now on.
After handing Liam the variety bag of snacks that I just put together for him this was his reaction:
"Oh my goodness. Oh Wow. Good job mom. Woah. High Five Mom. Look at my snack. Thank you thank you mom. I love you mom". Now he is dancing around and humming with his ziplock baggie full of snacks.
Mom snack level has officially reached epic proportions

Downside to previously mentioned amazing snacks: Getting woken up at 4am on a Saturday to a little person saying "Wake Up Mom, I need more snacks". Needless to say I gave up after 2 more hours of 15 to 20 minute snatches of sleep in between a new snack necessity request each time....
Earlier today Liam was asking me when we were going to go to the store or something to that effect and I said "10 Til"
I have NO idea what he thinks "10 Til" means, because now he keeps using it any chance he can get. He told me he has to go to bed because "10 Til" and then he told me when he wakes up in the morning he can "10 Til"
Earlier he even said "Mom, No, 10 Til"
Although all of these statements could theoretically be correct at some point, they just didn't seem to show his grasp on the meaning haha.
Now he keeps telling me "Mom I need 10 Til" I keep telling him that that is a time and he says yes and when I ask if he knows that is a time he seems to, so I have no idea
*I finally figured out that he thought I said show and tell for school but that took me over a week to figure out

Liam just walked into his playroom and said
"Oh my goodness gracious. This is a mess, time to clean it up Liam"
Then he started to clean... for a full 3 minutes before he got side tracked and started playing haha. Hey it's a start :)

I was just drifting off to sleep at nap time when I was awakened by Liam crying in his bathroom. So I jump up and go see what is going on. He is sitting on the toilet crying.... He forgot to put the seat up and pee is spraying everywhere..... I had to scrub down the shower curtain, mop the floor and wash all of the bathroom rugs.... needless to say that was the end of nap time....  Gotta love going potty when you are still half asleep

Liam has added "checking the green on my foot" to his bedtime ritual. This consists of taking the thermometer and running it over both feet until it beeps and shows green (meaning there is no fever). I have such a silly boy.

Liam just came up to me with a lighter and said
"Mom, I need fire."
Yep I have a boy haha

Here are some silly picture throughout the month:

The Mind of A Toddler: Exciting "Why" Stage

I do my best to write down some of the silly and memorable things that my toddler does throughout the month so that I can share it with you all.  My son Liam, is quite the character.  I would love to hear stories of some of the crazy things that your kids do or say.  Please share your own stories here.

Liam just brought me one of his toys that was cracked and said
"Look mom, it's broken"
I said "That's why we don't throw our toys"
He said "Why" (yes the why stage is in full force)
I said "Because then they get broken"
He said "Noooooo" and proceeded to throw the toy into his play room.... Some things people need to learn for themselves haha

Does anyone else's child fall out of bed head first with arms on the ground yelling for mommy or is it just mine.... every night..... as another way to stall sleeping......

Watergun fight is about to commence. I'm a little worried about how serious Liam is about this, but my gun shoots water farther muah haha.

Liam likes to sleep with whatever book we read for bed that night. I thought I heard him calling for me and went up to his door and listened and he is in there reading to himself and making sound effects, haha how cute

After eating dinner Liam lifts up his shirt and rubs his belly and in a very concerned voice and says "My tummy"
So I asked him "Does it hurt"
He says "No. It has food in it"
Haha my silly boy

I was exciting and saying "I rock at life" and Liam said, "Why do you you rock mom" I told him it was because I am awesome haha.

Liam has been grabbing all the different fruit and veggies from my bountiful basket and asking me what they are, and then his response is "Ooooh Okay." Until he gets to the ear of corn.
Holding it up he says "What is that mom?"
I say "That's corn"
He says "why mom?"
I say "because it's corn"
He says "why mom?"
I don't really know what else to say at this point haha

Liam made a huge mess playing "party hat bowling" and there were napkins and paper plates all over and then he picked all of it up all by himself without me asking him to. So we hugged, spun around said "yay" and then I asked if he wanted some ice cream and he said "No I want a drink of water" proceeded to get a water bottle, take a drink and walk away.... How do I always want ice cream more than he does?

I was just drifting off to sleep when Liam woke me up (never fails if I go to bed late). So I take him back to his room and ask him what's wrong. He says "I'm tired". So I let him know that going back to sleep will help out with that. All is good I go climb back into bed, about to fall asleep when Liam is back.
This time he tells me "I need to see the green". Naturally I have no freaking idea what the heck he means. After tirelessly guessing he takes me to the kitchen and gets the thermometer. I feel his head again and tell him that he's not warm.
He says "no mom, foot". So I humor him and use it on both feet and show him that it's green and not yellow or red for a fever. He appears satisfied with this answer and lays down on the kitchen rug. He then wants another blanket and for me to lay down on the floor in his room. After that he wants to hold my hand and have me sing him ABCs. Then he is fine and goes back to sleep.... I have no clue what he was dreaming about haha, time for me to get back to sleep mode.

I just put some sunglasses on Liam and said "Ooh you look so handsome"
So he put glasses on me and said "Ooh mom, you look so handsome"
Haha I'll take it since I know he doesn't understand gender based adjectives.

Liam got out of the bath went into my bedroom and started pedi egging his foot..... naked.... then he went out into the living room and was trying to use it as a bat to hit a ball across the room.... I think he needed to reassert his manhood on the pedi egg Did I mention that he is still naked? haha

A few weeks ago Liam had a cut on his head and I put some Arnica (healing ointment) on it. This became a bedtime ritual for about a week, so the jar has been in his room, and I forgot it was even in there until I heard him attempting to open his door just a minute ago. He had a pack of wipes in his hand and a big gob of Arnica smeared across his forehead..... At least he was trying to get help cleaning it up haha.... Never a dull moment

Tonight I told Liam that we could go get a "yummy" (cakepop at starbucks) if he laid down and went to sleep. He immediately jumped into bed flattened out on his stomach and closed his eyes with a big grin on his face. It was so adorable. Too bad it was only effective for about 60 seconds before he was right back out of bed..... Can't say I didn't try haha.

I accidentally hit Liam on the head with the remote and he said "ow you got me!" then he jumped up onto my lap and gave me a hug and kiss. He got back down handed me the remote and said "do it again mom, get me, get me!" After about the third light hit with him laughing so hard he could barely say a fake "Ow" I started to feel bad haha. Never a dull moment

Liam was trying to convince me to let him have mini corndogs for dinner instead of leftovers. He got his play phone and said
"Hello fireman I want to eat corndogs. Thank you fireman. Bye fireman I love you."
So I handed him the box of corndogs he grabbed it hugged it gave it a bunch of kisses and said "thank you thank you mom"
Needless to say corndogs are too important tonight for me to say no to.....

Tonight for bed Liam wanted me to blow a raspberry on his neck so I did it.
He says to me "Yucky Mom, Stop It. Time for timeout."
You just can't win haha

My son made himself and eyemask out of string haha

Liam & I sing a couple of songs before bedtime on a normal basis and he loves the song "Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star" A few months ago I had a request to change it to 'Little Moon & Star" So we have sang it our way for awhile now. Tonight I was told told: "No Mom, not little, Say BIG moon ok" So now it has become Twinkle Twinkle, Big Moon & Star haha.

Liam has been watching Garfield the last couple nights during dinner, which to me is a happy relief from Pingu and Fireman Sam that we have watched waaay too many times. When we get ready for bed, Liam likes to go through all of the letters on his shower curtain and we say things for each letter, sometimes names like, A for Apple, L for Liam, so tonight he said R for Arbuckle hahaha. Must be time to stop watching Garfield.

Liam says to me "Mom, Liam's crying"
I ask "You are crying?"
Liam says "No mom watch".
He makes a sad face and says "wah. Wah wah.... I got you mom"
Then he giggles with delight.....
For some reason I'm having flashbacks to my childhood.....

Liam is watching kid's recipes on YouTube right now haha. He is definitely my child.

Here are some photos from the past month :)

The Mind Of a Toddler: Strange Bedtime Requests

I like to try to keep track of some of the crazy stuff my son does and says throughout the month and then look back at it and laugh.  I started blogging it a couple months ago, and I am pleased at the response.  Please feel free to share your own toddler antics here!  Enjoy!

Liam just told me that he peed in his pants and then I pulled them off him really fast and they were dry. I asked him about 5 times "did you really pee in your pants?" He told me yes every time. After I got his pants off he ran off giggling and is now playing pant-less with a firetruck in glee..... Boys....

I take my child to have ice cream at McDonald's and play at the playplace and he wants to hangout and eat apples haha.  This can't be my child, Ice Cream should trump everything!

Before bed one night, Liam had three book choices so I asked him to pick one.
He says "No mom, you pick one"
So I did and he said "No mom pick one"
So I pick a second one and get told told "No pick one"
So finally I selected the third one and he said "Yeah mom, good job"
Apparently I really didn't have any choice in the matter after all haha.  (And they say girls are difficult)

Liam's new favorite mealtime activity is to sneak over and try to grab as much of one thing on my plate as he can and shove it into his mouth or drink all of my drink. He then runs away in glee taunting me with "I ate/drank it all mom" then he comes over hugs me and gives me a kiss. We have the exact same thing on both of our plates. Although I am happy that he is eating his fill, he tried to eat all of my food first before he eats his own. Needless to say "mommy" doesn't find it quite so humorous and Liam has lost his Pingu watching privilege for the remainder of the meal. Plus side, it helps me eat less... Downside Liam sucks at staying seated while eating. Oh the joys of motherhood.....

I made Liam a sandwich a couple of days with Boy Choy, Miracle Whip, Roast Beef & Smoked Butterkase cheese. Every day since then he has asked me for the sandwich with the green haha. At least my boy is healthy

Liam sometimes like to put his book on his face and play the "where's Liam?" Game in the middle of reading. However, tonight we were reading and he slams the book up onto my face saying "Where's Mommy?" I said "Liam please stop you have to be gentle that hurts mommy" and so he says "do it to me mom" and so I open the book and gently put it up to his face and said "where' Liam" he says "stop mom, that hurts". Then he giggles grabs the book and says "Your turn mom". How the heck did that turn into a game?

I told Liam he has one more minute before he had to lay down for bed and he grabbed a blanket and put it into his mouth. So I asked him "Is that how you want to spend your last minute, chewing on a blanket?" He said yes and then after a second he asked me to spit in his eye. I said "eww gross, no". And he said "do it mom, do it!" I told him I was not going to spit into his eye, needless to say his minute is now gone. Boys.....

Liam (who was supposed to be in bed asleep almost an hour ago) just came out into the living room and brought me one of his small fuzzy blankets to trade for my couch throw blanket. He said "Here mom, this is for you." And then he points to the one I was using "That one is Liam's." I said "Oh really" He says "yes mom, come on, help me" and started carrying it off to the bedroom. Needless to say I am now writing this with a green fuzzy monkey blanket that at least covers my legs haha.

Liam has recently started making faces in the mirror when he brushes his teeth now. (Personally I blame Pingu since anytime Pingu is in the bathroom he makes faces in the mirror at himself). But then he started saying things to his reflection like "Hi, I'm Liam" "This is Liam (points to self) and this is Mom" (points to me) At least I get to be included haha.

Liam and I were playing a game he made up using a shoelace and the table. He explained the rules to me and I followed. He says to be "Good job mom. You did it. Tickle Tickle". And tries to tickle my belly haha

Liam discovered a 32 minute long youtube video of nothing but live firetrucks responding. He is transfixed... and not even a single fire yet, just lots of sirens, horns and lights haha.  I swear he didn't even blink the entire time.

Liam was eating lunch and he was wanting more fruit. I told him he could have some more if he ate a section of his sandwich. I just caught him take the sandwich stand up to pretend like he was doing something while holding the sandwich behind his back and move closer and closer to Kiri (the dog) to try to get her to take it from him. All the while he keeps looking back to see where she is. I just asked "Liam what are you doing?" He quickly threw the sandwich to Kiri and said "Mom, Kiri eat it! Kiri outside". Poor Kiri.....

When Liam hands you an apple and says "Mom, open it please." What he means is that he wants me to take the first bite out of the apple so that it's easier for him to eat. Also when singing the itsy bitsy spider and it's Liam's turn to sing, the spider goes up the water spout about 20 times before the rain come down to wash it out....

Liam was eating bites off of my pizza and so when I had eaten it all he told me "Mom you ate all your food, time out". I asked "Why do I get a timeout for eating my own food?" He just said "Time out mom, time out!" I guess I lost that argument....

Liam has the weirdest morning cravings. This morning he currently has on his plate (all at the same time) a cheese crisp, a yogurt, pickles and a spoon full of peanut butter..... Some days I swear I have a pregnant woman inside of my toddler hahaha.
Liam is ever the imaginative procrastinator (I wonder where he gets it from) especially when it comes to bedtime. He can think of all kinds of reasons to attempt to prolong going to sleep and for a way to get up out of bed. This evening the new request I had was to tickle his face with my hair not one, not two, but five times. Haha yes this is what he wanted me to do and giggled with such glee that I was happy to have obliged. Never a dull moment haha.

Liam was reading a book to me and it had a black beetle and he was counting the legs and then all of a sudden he pulls his hand back really fast and says "Ow, get away bug. Go outside!" Hahaha I love my child, who gets bitten by bugs on the pages of books

Liam and I were playing peekaboo with the shower curtain when he started throwing bath toys at me. I told him he couldn't throw anything else or we would have to stop playing. So the next time he took something and gently placed it outside of the tub and gave me an impish grin.... Somehow I feel like I just got bested.....

Liam knelt on a block and his knee was hurt. I did the normal kissing it better routine, but apparently that wasn't enough. Instead I had a request to get the bubbles out and blow bubbles onto his knee. I of course obliged and it seemed to do the trick. Haha where does he get these ideas?

Here are a couple spectacular videos from the last month haha
